Just Jemini Visits Sky Clinic to experience the 3D LIPO treatment, This is what she experienced.
Located in Edgbaston Village (Birmingham’s very own ‘Harley Street’), Sky Clinic is properly one of the very few places I’ve visited that instantly ooze minimalistic class as soon as you walk through the door. The treatment that I was invited to review was the 3D Lipomed. Before I get bombarded with the “you don’t need lipo” business, I went to try out the treatment because there was no harm in losing any unwanted fat and I was really intrigued with how advanced technology in the beauty industry worked.
Brought to media spotlight by ex-Apprentice winner Dr. Leah, 3D Lipomed utilises the latest generation technology to reduce fat, tighten skin and improve appearance of cellulite without any cuts or incisions. After walking into the treatment room, the owner and therapist Salome talked me through what the treatment would consist of and what I would be experiencing.
The 1st Stage – Fat Removal
There were two options for this stage – ultrasound cavitation (fat melting) or cryolipolysis (fat freezing). As I told Salome that I wanted to get rid of the stubborn fat on my lower stomach – which I found so hard to lose/tone no matter how much I exercised. She advised that ultrasound cavitation would work best for me. After having ultrasound gel applied on my stomach, Salome used low frequency ultrasound on the entire area. The process works by the ultrasound producing a strong wave of pressure to the fat cell membranes, which then disintegrates into a liquid state and passes out through urinating. There was no discomfort during this stage. The only weird thing about it, is that I was the only one that could hear the ultrasound. Initially, I thought I was going a bit crazy hearing the static sound but then I got a bit too fascinated by it all (and may seemed crazy).
The 2nd Stage – Skin Tightening
The second stage of 3D Lipomed involved using radio frequency to tighten skin and improve the appearance of cellulite by encouraging the skin to produce collagen. Before coming to Sky Clinic, I was specifically instructed to drink a lot of water before undergoing 3D Lipomed. This stage of radio frequency skin tightening is the part where it involved the treated area to be heated up to 40 degrees by using a a 6-point hand piece by the therapist – so it was vital that I was well and truly hydrated before and after the treatment. I actually quite enjoyed this stage because I personally love the feeling of heat on my skin. It was comfortable and it didn’t get overly hot – I nearly drifted off!
The 3rd Stage – 3D-dermology RF
The final stage of this innovative treatment uses automated vacuum skin rolling to encourage lymphatic drainage and improve the appearance of cellulite. Whilst the fractional radio frequency penetrates the skin layers to heat the skin tissue to accelerate the production of elastin fibres and collagen. This was the part I least enjoyed as it was pretty painful. The suction and pressure was really intense, which was merely tolerable. I was told by Salome that I could experience bruising as an after effect. So me being me who bruises easily and all that, a part of my lower belly (just under my belly button) was and still is partially bruised. I hope it does fade completely by the weekend though (eek)!
